My 40th Birthday trip was one of those birthdays that I dreamt about. A long weekend getaway in Nashville with my childhood besties. We were all turning 40 that year. But you know it was the summer of 2020 and you guessed it COVID-19 shut down everything. Two years pass by and my 40th birthday was no longer a thing but thank goodness for my husband who said we are going to Nashville for a 40th birthday redo.
So, in 2022 we went to Nashville with 12 of our closest friends, some couples and some singles. One swanky Air BB and a lot on the agenda. We had so much fun on that trip, my husband and I return that same year in December to bring in the New Year with his parents.
These are the must see stops from these two trips combined and some awesome photos. #affiliatelinksincluded

You cannot go wrong here. The Grand Ole Opry is a wonderful afternoon experience. Go early and enjoy the grounds. It is a bit of a drive from downtown, so do plan for the 20-minute drive and if you are taking a Uber or Earthride, no problem they will come get you. The Opry Hotel is also worth walking around the lobby while you are over there, which a bunch of folks in our group did ahead of the show. The Opry is an intimate experience once you sit down and take your seats, you will feel like the musicians are right there. Get there early, stop at the store, get your beverage of choice, and enjoy the show.
2. Ryman Theater (Back stage tour)
This is the original location of the Grand Ole Opry, and it is right in downtown Nashville off of Broadway Street. I recommend you see a concert there; we did on New Years Eve. It is the original church pews, and the acoustics are out of this world. Go in the daytime and get a backstage tour and get your picture at the microphone. It is an amazing experience. Also, this place was closed down for many decades and thinking about the musicians bringing it back to life is such a beautiful story. Thank you, Emmylou Harris. The backstage tour is worth every penny and if you can see a show here, get ready for a concert like you have never experienced in the mother church of country music.

Custom HTML/CSS/JAVASCRIPTGo downtown early and dance your way down Broadway. Seriously. Start at one end of town, I recommend starting near the Acme Feed and Seed and then just stop in any place with a band, stay for a drink or until you are ready to move on to the next stop. Places you must stop at Tootsies (3 floors), Miranda Lambert's Casa Rosa (great place to eat Tex Mex on the second floor), Blake Shelton's Red Wagon, Jason Aldean and Luke Bryant's bar connect to each other from the top deck. Seriously, have your pick, but get ready because once the sun goes down this place gets wild. I recommend going early in the morning or in the daytime and spending the day dancing and shopping.
4. Tractor Pull Party
OMG this was so much fun. I was a bit concerned when my husband said he booked this. I am not a big drinker and I thought how ridiculous to be pulled around town on a tractor, but we had the best time ever. This Tractor Pull Party is just that, a big Tractor, a DJ, and lots of fun with large groups. It circles the football stadium, the DJ makes sure everyone has a blast, and you can bring your own alcohol. We danced and laughed, and just really enjoyed ourselves as a group. I highly recommend you do this. It is only about 90 minutes but what a fun way to get the night started and get away from the crowds.
5. Line Dancing at the wild horse saloon
You must go to the wild horse saloon off of Broadway and line dance. It has the biggest stage, the biggest floor, and a lot of room. If you have a large party, this place is perfect because there is plenty of room. If you check the schedule you can get lessons for free. Wear your cowboy boots and get ready for some fun.
6. Tootsies (all three floors)
Tootsies is where it all started. It is a small place with 3 floors with a band on every floor. You must buy drinks, you must have fund, and you must make your way to every floor. It will feel tight in here, but as you stay and make your way up stairs you will find your place for your party and I promise you will have the best time listening to the best country music lineup in town. You might also see someone famous.
7. Country Music Hall of Fame
This place is pretty awesome. It has a Taylor Swift Education Center, everyone who is anyone is country music has their story told here. So much to see, plan on being here awhile so make sure you get something to eat before you start. Plan on spending 3 hours here.
8.Johnny Cash Museum
This is right off of Broadway and if you love Johnny Cash you will love this museum. It tells his story and his love story to June as well. It is off of Broadway, so if you get tickets do this after breakfast, then afterwards walk around on Broadway and have some fun before it gets crazy wild at nighttime. Lines are long at night so you might not get to see everything. We had cute tank tops made for this museum morning, because we wanted to wear our cute outfits at nighttime.
If you have time to go sing Karaoke on Karaoke Row off of Broadway, it is so much fun. It is tucked in an alley with a few Karaoke bars, you have to pay to put a song in and you are not guaranteed to be picked but this is the ultimate experience if you get chosen, which we did, and I felt like I was in my own rock group the entire bar sings along to all songs. So awesome.
I cannot wait to go back to Nashville, and I might go back this summer for the country music fest. I really do believe that Nashville stole my heart. Until next time.

A Few Words About Angie and the fam
I get it, I am a busy working mom of two boys and our loving dog Ruby. I have a robust career as academic and clinician and my day job can be stressful, as I work tirelessly to fight against the opioid epidemic and train providers to do addiction and mental health work. I am not here to talk to you about that.
I LOVE TO TRAVEL. Each year my hubs and I sit down and map out our use of our PTO and our budget and then we put our plan in play. It includes family trips, couples' trips, solo trips, concerts, girls' trips. This is my medicine.
This blog is about that, my joy of traveling. It includes #affiliatelinks and I get commission from these links. I hope you enjoy what I share, and you are able to make your own travel joys come true.
